Press Release: Elisa launches international version of Traxmeet, the Internet training service

Press release 27 April 2009

Elisa has launched an international version of Traxmeet. Traxmeet is a free Internet service for managing and sharing training information and utilises GPS technology, Heart Rate Monitoring and Google Maps to present exercise information. Several sports computers and GPS loggers and GPX-data compatible devices are supported. For more information, see: www.traxmeet.com.

When you’ve been running, biking, roller blading or simply walking, and you’ve been using a GPS logger or GPS sports computer to record your performance, why not load the information up to the Traxmeet service using your computer? The service automatically updates your training calendar and exercise summary and allows you to view more than 10,000 public exercises, with the option of comparing your own performance against them. You can also monitor your friends’ activities with automatic notices.

Use maps when exercising

Seeing your exercise route on Google Maps is a thrilling experience. Use the map view to see roads or the satellite view / terrain view to understand the topography. Replay your exercise session and also see how your heart rate responds when you hit an incline. Understand at a glance your average speed, distance, and elevation profile.

Personalised training calendar

When you download the training information from your sports computer or GPS logger, the service automatically adds the exercise information to your personalised training calendar. You can add additional information to the exercise. Also manage indoor exercises using by manually adding gym exercises or aerobics sessions etc. You can create summaries by choosing the time frame and sports.

A community for sports- and fitness-minded people

Traxmeet is a community for sports- and fitness-minded people. You can search for certain types of exercise (e.g. running) or certain locations (e.g. Florence). You can make sure your friends receive automatic update on the latest exercise. Compare your training sessions to those of others and see how they train. There are over 10,000 public exercises to choose from.

What do I have to do to use Traxmeet?

Traxmeet is a free service. You can create your own account at www.traxmeet.com by clicking Join now for free! button. Through your account you can see other users’ exercise information.

To see your own training information, you need to upload it to Traxmeet. There are two ways to do it:

1) Use a GPX-supported device to record your exercise routes. Upload the exercise route information to your computer using the software supplied with the device. Install the Traxmeet Sync from www.traxmeet.com. Use the Traxmeet Sync to import the exercise information file from your PC. The Sync automatically uploads the exercise information to Traxmeet. Please note that only limited amount of Traxmeet features can be used with GPX-data.

2) Buy a device that is integrated with Traxmeet. Install the Sync software on your computer from www.traxmeet.com/eng/sync_en.jsp. Hook the device up to your PC and use the Sync to upload the training information first to your PC – the Sync will then automatically upload it to Traxmeet. The following devices are supported for direct upload:
- Garmin Forerunner 205 and 305 and Edge 205 and 305 sports computers (www.garmin.com),
- FRWD B-series and FRWD W-series sports computers (www.frwd.com), and
- i-gotU GT-100 and GT-120 GPS Loggers (http://global.mobileaction.com/product/product_i-gotU_USB.jsp).
